The “_____” You Grew Up With

A series of paintings with a focus on shared Asian-American childhood. The intent was to present each one with a universal and overly-generalized statement. One that assumes the viewer's participation in a shared experience, much like listicles online. This would create tension in anyone that hasn't had this experience. To highlight the ways in which media frames the white, suburban American as universal.
